Status: in development

Known as the Palácio Sandeman, the original building was built in the 19th century by António Bernardo de Brito e Cunha.

It is a refined expression of neoclassical architecture, characterised by a palatial symmetry and a noble heritage passed down through generations.

Conservation is the guiding thread for our intervention, transforming the old palatial house into a 35-room hotel that honours its original soul.

We are committed to preserving the building's neoclassical matrix, from the central wooden staircase and the ornate fourth-floor noble hall to the rhythmic beauty of its exterior tiled walls.

Our goal for Palácio Sandeman is to offer an authentic encounter with Porto’s urban history. By removing later, dissonant additions and opening the ground floor to the pulse of the city, we create a seamless connection between the palatial interior and the historic garden of Cordoaria, the city’s ancestral site of the rope-making yards dating back to the 14th century.

By adapting the interior for modern hospitality while restoring the noble character of its original design, we ensure that the building continues to dignify the city, inviting guests to experience the elegance of Portugal within a space deeply rooted in its local landscape and culture.
