Na Praia
Status: in construction
It starts with a special stretch of land on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, an hour’s drive from Lisbon, in Comporta. Its 340 ha are partly integrated into a nature reserve that comprises 60 km of sand dunes, pine trees, and coastal vegetation. It is bordered by two waterfronts: the Sado River’s estuary on the east front and the Atlantic Ocean on the west. The site itself gives access to a 2 km white sand beach, with 20 endemic species of vegetation thriving in its coastal prairies and dunes. It is intensely wild and beautiful.
Ecology is the main theme for developing the natural and built environment of Na Praia. It is the thread that connects and guides everything towards conservation. We decided to follow the smooth shapes of the dunes; the buildings all adapt to the terrain, ensuring privacy among the trees and the unevenness of the topography. Local craftsmanship and natural materials allow seamless integration with the surrounding landscape.
Our vision for Na Praia is to bring people to experience the natural beauty of this site while enjoying an authentic local service. This is a hospitality project that prioritizes the landscape’s ecosystem and preserves it, requiring respect and commitment from all involved. It embraces a unique encounter between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic cultures.
