Estúdio Lisboa brings together developers, project managers, architects, landscapers, engineers, and experienced hoteliers. We believe that having the in-house expertise embeds a hotel with a sense of place, craftsmanship and service culture.
José António Uva
Founder & CEO
Created São Lourenço do Barrocal and is also a partner of Na Praia, a coastal development with 2 km of beach, north of Comporta. He graduated from ESCP Business School in 1999 and has three children with his wife, Ana.
Ana Anahory
Partner & Project Coordination
An architect by training, what Ana likes most are interiors, ones that are comfortable, simple, functional, and timeless. She is fascinated by Portuguese materials and crafts. Married to José António, together they create projects with a sense of place.
Aidan McMahon
Architecture & Project Management Lead
Since moving to Lisbon from the UK in 2017 with his wife Ana and his two kids, Owen and Clara, Aidan oversees the dedicated team of designers of Estúdio Lisboa.
Andrea Battocchi
Architecture
Italian architect with a degree from Milan Polytechnic, Andrea studied a year in Lisbon, a city he fell in love with, and finally left Italy for Portugal in 2009.
Armando Ferreira
Landscape Architecture
Landscape architect graduated from the School of Agriculture at the University of Lisbon in 2000. He is part of the landscaping team at Estúdio Lisboa and is also dedicated to Baldios, a collective he co-founded that studies the thematics of the landscape.
Bárbara Alexandrino
Architecture
Rio de Janeiro was her home for 4 years, but it is in Lisbon, where she lives today, that Bárbara feels she has found her place to be. Her life is filled with family and friends, Kung Fu, and meditation, but also new studies: in 2022 she completed a postgraduate course in Project Management at ISEG, where she broadened her vision of what it means to be an architect.
Bruno Pereira
Project Management
A collaborator in housing and hotel programmes in cities like Paris, Barcelona and Lisbon. Graduated from the Department of Architecture at the University of Coimbra and from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture of Paris La Villette.
Cátia Cardoso
Architecture
Born in Aveiro, where she developed a taste for the arts from an early age. After completing her master’s degree in architecture, Cátia moved to Lisbon where she consolidated her professional career. At Estúdio Lisboa she collaborates in the field of project management. Her two children are her biggest joy and spending her holidays in the north of the country, the family’s refuge, is something she can’t do without.
Cláudia Belchior
Landscape Architecture Coordination
After finishing her education at the School of Agriculture at the University of Lisbon, with an exchange program in Vienna, Claudia began her career in landscape architecture studios in Lisbon and also worked in Zurich before joining Estúdio Lisboa. She is passionate about literature and finds artistic expression a form of meditation.
David Bernardino
Architecture
Born and raised in Caldas da Rainha, where he soon discovered two of his major interests: sport and the arts. David studied at the Faculty of Architecture of Lisbon and at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, having returned to Lisbon in 2009.
David Sampaio
Landscape Architecture
With a degree from the School of Agriculture of the University of Lisbon, David has collaborated with several landscape architecture studios and producers of indigenous plants over the last 25 years, specializing in construction and maintenance. He is now part of the project management team at Estúdio Lisboa.
Eduardo Magno
Architecture Coordination
In Berlin, he learned about rigour and the value of working in a multicultural environment, but his love for Lisbon and its sun led him to return to the city where he was born. He likes the place-founding character of the architectural practice and its ability to ask questions. He loves a day at the beach and a good game of tennis. He plans to write a book.
Francisco Saraiva
Landscape Architecture
In the last seven years he has collaborated with landscape architecture ateliers such as PROAP and NPK. Interested in anthropology, philosophy and science, he likes to explore new landscapes and the surprises that they give.
Gonçalo Batista
Architecture Coordination
Graduated in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Lisbon, he studied in Madrid via the Erasmus program. Since 2012, he has been integrating multidisciplinary teams in projects of various scales, both in Portugal and abroad.
Inês Balsa
Architecture
During her degree at the Lisbon Faculty of Architecture Inês discovered her aptitude for hand drawing. In London, she collaborated on housing projects, and at Estúdio Lisboa Inês develops the projects of Barrocal Houses, where she puts into practice her taste for local and vernacular architecture. She likes to travel and to explore the characteristics of each location; of the places where she has lived, she liked Costa Rica the most.
Inês Carvalho
Interior Architecture
Architect qualified in Urban and Territorial Planning. Her greater interest in interior architecture has led her to Estúdio Lisboa, where she is part of the FF&E team. She believes that the work developed in close relationships with local artists, artisans, and suppliers contributes to the full integration of architecture and spaces with our history.
Inês Correia
Head of Operations
Fascinated by hotels since she was a child, Inês graduated in hotel management, went to Switzerland for a 6-month internship at an international hotel chain, and ended up staying there for 3 years. Then followed Lisbon, Morocco, and later Thailand. She loves her two children deeply, enjoys a good conversation, summer nights, and swims in the sea.
João Matos
Architecture
With a Graduation in Architecture from ARCA-EUAC in Coimbra, João developed his professional practice in Lisbon and London. In 2022, he deepened his interest in bioclimatic architecture concluding a Post-Graduation in Construction and Sustainable Rehabilitation of Buildings (UNL). A good day starts early, with a riverside jog, and lasts for several hours, pencil in hand, drawing.
Juan de Mayoralgo
Interior Project Development
Half Spanish and half French, after living in Portugal since 2009, he already feels half Portuguese. Graduated in Law and Geography, Juan worked in interior design and hospitality. Versatile, dedicated, and committed, he cannot live without plants and music.
Mara Monteiro
Architecture Coordination
Her professional career was consolidated in the UK, where she worked mostly on educational building projects. Mother of a small acrobat, she can spot a good tree to climb from a distance. When she’s not preventing falls, she takes refuge behind a good book.
Margarida Ruivo
Project & Construction Management Lead
With a degree in Territorial Engineering (IST), she has postgraduate degrees in Project Management (ISG) and in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Nova SBE). With more than 20 years of experience, her skills have allowed her to participate in projects of different scales, sectors, and geographies. She is happy at what she does, likes to get involved in social projects, and a week in the snow is essential.
Mariana Menano
Interior Architecture
With a degree in interior design and decorative arts, Mariana completed her academic career in the UK, where she developed restaurant and hotel projects. Detailed work in furniture design and artistic collaborations are part of her narrative. She loves to travel and explore new cultures and a good horseback ride whenever she can.
Núria Escrivá
Architecture
Born in Spain and graduated in Architecture at the Universidad Europea de Madrid, she moved to Lisbon in 2018 after having worked in cities such as São Paulo or London. Mother of another Núria, she spends most of her free time with her family, cycling, running, and practicing other outdoor sports.
Ricardo Custódio
Architectural Drawing Support
Having been born in the interior of the country, where he lived most of his life, Ricardo developed an innate love for nature and animals. He is also interested in classical music, which comes from his dedication to collective cooperation. In the last decade, he has been devoted to hotel and retail projects, namely in FF&E, currently supporting the department of architecture.
Sara Oliveira
Interior Architecture Coordination
Graduated in Architecture and with a multidisciplinary path focusing on interior design, photography, research, styling and traditional Portuguese makers. She loves traveling, ice cream, all arts & crafts and has a passionate commitment to what she does.
Sara Reis
Architecture
After completing her degree at the Faculty of Architecture in Lisbon, Sara lived in Benguela, where she did a year of volunteer work in the field of education. Her activity as an architect resumed in Berlin, and after that in Lisbon. She has a fascination for languages, cultures, and travel, as well as for Capoeira, which she practices and teaches.
Silvia Almas
Finance Direction
With a degree in Management and responsible for the finance department at Estúdio Lisboa, she has over 20 years of multidisciplinary experience having worked for several multinationals between Lisbon and Madrid. Sensitive to environmental issues and passionate about Portugal, in her free time she practices mountain biking and loves to cook.
Sofia Santos
Interior Architecture
Soon after starting her collaboration in architecture with a few Lisbon studios, Sofia decided that she wanted to learn more about something she also liked to do – designing furniture – and therefore took an introductory course in woodworking, thus combining two greatly interconnected areas. Part of the FF&E team where she helps develop and implement interior design projects.

With a postgraduate in Management and Performance Control, Sofia began her professional career at Estúdio Lisboa working in finance and procurement. She is now collaborating in the field of project management.
Susana Frazão
Landscape Architecture
Landscape planning, urban design, and redevelopment projects for public and private spaces have been part of her experience for over a decade. Graduated from the University of Lisbon in Landscape Architecture, she appreciates the simplicity and deep roots she has in the countryside, as well as the freedom she feels in it.

Marketing Direction & Brand Management
Responsible for marketing, branding and communication design, she has been working on brand building for over 14 years. Her interests include crafts, illustration, and other forms of Portuguese art. And travel.
